18 Kt Gold Skull and Crossbones Stickpin with Diamond Eyes

About the Item

Skull jewelry has fascinated the public from ancient times where it was worn to show bravery, power and strength. It was worn to show fearlessness, power and death. There were many plagues in the Renaissance and skulls represented the inevitability of death. In Victorian years the meaning shifted to remembering and honoring those who passed. Today it is seen as an act of rebellion. For whatever reason and in whatever era, people purchased skeletal jewels, often at large cost. This stickpin is 18Kt gold with rose diamond eyes. The diamonds though small and old rose cuts gleam. The pin measures 2 1/2 inches long. The skull and crossbones measure 1/2 inch. Quirky and in fine condition. It weighs 1.7 grams. Add it to your skull collection and be bravely fashionable.
